Dental Implant in Chembur

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS ?

Dental implants are one of the most reliable and long-lasting solutions for replacing missing teeth.

An implant is a small titanium post that is gently placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once it integrates with the bone, a custom-made crown is attached on top, perfectly mimicking the look and function of a natural tooth.

Implants not only restore your smile’s appearance but also feel and function just like real teeth, giving you the confidence to eat, speak, and smile naturally.

WHY DENTAL IMPLANTS ?

Tooth loss can occur at any stage of life  due to injury, accidents, gum disease, decay, or poor oral hygiene. When left untreated, missing teeth can lead to several functional and aesthetic concerns, including:

  • Difficulty in chewing and eating comfortably

  • Speech issues caused by gaps between teeth

  • Facial sagging and wrinkles, as missing teeth fail to support lips and cheeks

  • Jaw or facial pain resulting from an imbalanced bite

  • Tooth decay and gum disease due to food accumulation in empty spaces

  • Shifting or tilting of nearby teeth, causing improper alignment

  • Aged facial appearance and reduced self-confidence

  • Reluctance to smile or speak freely in social settings

Dental implants effectively address all these challenges by restoring both function and aesthetics. They look, feel, and perform like natural teeth, preventing bone loss and maintaining your facial structure.

Regardless of age or gender, implants offer a permanent, reliable, and natural-looking solution to replace missing teeth — helping you smile, eat, and live confidently again.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

Stages of a Dental Implant Procedure

Getting a dental implant is a step-by-step process designed to ensure comfort, precision, and long-term success.

1. Implant Placement

With modern dentistry techniques, implant placement is comfortable and virtually pain-free — often easier than a tooth extraction.

The procedure begins with preparing the jawbone, where the implantologist creates a small space in the bone to place the titanium implant — mimicking the natural tooth root.
In cases where the bone is insufficient or weak, a bone graft may be recommended to strengthen the area before placement.

Sometimes, a temporary crown is placed to maintain aesthetics while the implant integrates with the bone. This temporary crown is removed once healing is complete.

2. Healing & Integration

Over the next few months, the jawbone naturally fuses with the implant in a process called osseointegration.
This creates a stable, durable foundation for the new tooth — similar to how natural roots support your teeth.

Healing typically takes 3 to 6 months, depending on bone health. Once the implant has fully integrated, your dentist will take an X-ray to confirm readiness for the next stage.

3. Placement of the Permanent Crown

Once the implant is securely integrated, a custom-made crown is fabricated to perfectly match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth.
Your dentist will take precise impressions of your mouth to ensure the crown blends seamlessly with your smile.

The crown is then securely cemented or screwed onto the implant.
This process usually takes about 2–3 weeks, after which your dentist will guide you on post-implant care to ensure long-term success.

Types of Dental Implant Treatment in Chembur

Single Tooth Implant

Ideal for replacing one missing tooth without affecting adjacent healthy teeth. A single titanium post and custom crown restore both function and appearance seamlessly.

Multiple Teeth Implants

Missing several teeth? Implant-supported bridges replace multiple teeth using fewer implants - preserving bone and avoiding removable dentures.

All-on-4 Dental Implants

Restore an entire arch of teeth using just four strategically placed implants. All-on-4 is an ideal alternative to full dentures - fixed, natural, and permanent.

Same-Day Implants

In suitable cases, an implant can be placed on the same day as your extraction, minimising the number of visits and reducing overall treatment time.

POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS

Follow these post-operative instructions after Dental Implant procedure, and never hesitate in consulting the doctor for any question or problem:

  • Avoid touching, spitting or rinsing the wound on the day of surgery. Don’t touch the metal healing abutment jutting through the gum tissue.
  • After implant surgery, it’s normal to have some bleeding or redness in the mouth for 24 hours. To control excessive bleeding, bite on a gauze pad (placed on the bleeding wound) for 30 minutes. If bleeding does not stop, seek further instructions from us.
  • Swelling is natural after surgery. It infact is a sign of good healing. To minimize it, apply an ice pack on the cheek in the surgical area (you can also use a plastic bag or an ice-filled towel). Apply the ice as much as you could for the first 36 hours.
  • Drink lots of fluids but avoid consuming hot beverages. Stick to soft diet on the day of surgery. You can get back to the normal diet once the surgical area is healed. Don’t drink anything using a straw.
  • Start taking pain medication as soon as you feel the effects of the local anesthetic are going down.
  • Healing is not possible without good oral hygiene. Use the prescribed oral rinse while the day after surgery, use the prescribed oral rinse twice – after breakfast and before bed. Rinse for at least 20 seconds and then spit it out. Use warm salt rinses at least 4-5 times a day as well. Be gentle initially while brushing the surgical area to not affect the healing.
  • Do not use, or consume, tobacco products in any form or any type after implants. It not only hinders healing but may also increase the chances of implant failure.
  • Don’t engage in exercise immediately after the surgery or keep it minimal at best. You should know that exercise may cause bleeding or throbbing, and it really happens, stop the activity right away. This may weaken you since you’re not taking normal nourishment.
  • Healing abutments will be placed at the time of implant placement. So, do rinse them frequently and keep them clean. Wait for the stitches to be removed/dissolve and then clean the abutments through gentle massage.
